Airtaxis Lyon-Paris

Paris... la ville de toutes les, euh... démesures ! (Oui bon, c'est pas Dubaï non, plus hein). A l'origine, cette scénographie, mettant en scène l'Ô combien méconnu pilote Ed Rougaille, devait accompagner mon arrivée dans la Capitale (le 1er Juillet 2010). Elle devait par conséquent expliquer un peu le pourquoi du comment Ed et moi nous retrouvions à Paris. Eh bien, ce sera seulement après près de 2 mois depuis mon retour de Paris que je poste enfin cette illu. Elle a beaucoup de défauts, je sais (principalement dans la perspective supra-bancale) mais il fallait que je la finisse !! C'est désormais chose faite. Donc, explicitons un chouïa : 

Pour rappel (ou pour info..) j'ai passé deux mois pleins à Paris cet été afin d'effectuer un stage en entreprise, dans le jeune studio de développement de jeux-vidéo parisien Uacari (dans lequel j'ai vraiment pris plaisir à bosser, mais j'y reviendrai dans un prochain article). L'illu représente donc mon personnage favoris partant d'une plateforme de "Airtaxis" lyonnaise (les lyonnais auront reconnu le Crayon, ou la tour de la Part-Dieu, surplombant la ville en bas), en direction de Paris. En fait c'était très simple, mais fallait quand même le dire (et oui, Ed est lyonnais, c'est marqué sur sa valise SNCF^^).

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND FRENCH, BUT THIS FOLLOWING EXOTIC LANGUAGE

Paris... The city of the great immoderation (Well, if you're not French - and you're not 'cause you are currently reading this lost web entry in English... - you maybe disagree with the disproportionate appearance of the french city...). Anyway, it's certainly not necessary to present you the city of Paris. But, you have to know that in France, there isn't just this city. Yes, Paris is definitly a world apart. So, my favorite character (Ed Rougaille, in the illustration) and me, came to Paris so as to do my intership in a young video game company called Uacari Studio (I will present my work later) as a CG Concept Artist. OK, this scenography is unperfect (especially the perspective which is really "strange"...), but I had to finish it. It represents Ed leaving the city of Lyon (my town), waiting for an "Airtaxi" on a futuristic airdock, in direction to Paris. I should show you this picture at the beginning of my journey in the French Capital, but... I've to admit I finished it 2 months after my RETURN from the Capital (whereas I began the drawing in July...).

RE-LE LANGAGE DES FIERS COQS

J'avais dis (ICI) que je posterai une ch'tite évolution de cette illu, donc... chose promise, chose due (comme on dit). Donc voici le tout premier brouillon de la scéno. Déjà là, j'me sentais inspiré et j'ai pu faire le brouillon "final" assez rapidement (malgré la perspective foireuse) et le propre plus longuement après. Mais ce premier brouillon parisien montre clairement les idées principales de la composition de l'image.

So now, I had to show you the very first draft of the illustration 'cause I promised it (in french) HERE. As you can see, I had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted to draw for the final version of the illustration. That's why I drawn the "final" draft quickly, and the final drawing, OK longer, but showing confidence (despite the flawed perspective).

(DE NOUVEAU EN) LANGUAGE FRANÇAIS (avec un U à Language, comme " Une faute d'orthographe ")

Je finirai juste de blablater dans ma Tartine-bloc (ou tartinote, ou encore Tartine-blog...) avec un ptit bonus, un dessin préparatoire autour des Airtaxis (qu'on ne verra pas au final, à part de dos, et encore.. mais bon).  [Ah tiens, le logo de la compagnie est une chèvre, comme c'est étonnant^^ Ah, et pour info, une chèvre se dissimule bel et bien dans l'illu finale ;) A vous de la trouver ^^]

DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING, LET ME GUESS... YOU STILL DON'T SPEAK FRENCH... ?

It's the last thing I tell you, after it's over, I promise^^ So, it's a concept sheet around the Airtaxis that we finally don't see on the final picture (except their back on the left foreground).  ;)

NB : L'illu devait s'appeler, originellement, Ed&Paris (ça fait 4 mois que le WIP porte ce nom) puis j'ai décidé de l'appeler "Airtaxis Lyon-Paris" en postant l'article, ce qui - je trouve - représente bien le truc. Et puis ça évoque un peu le "volume 1", autrement dit ma scéno précédente avec Ed "Air Technoël One" réalisée à l'occasion de Noël et du Nouvel An. Et cette nouvelle scéno a elle aussi cet aspect aérien et crépusculaire qu'on retrouvait dans "Air Technoël One".

Originally, the illustration should bear the name of "Ed&Paris" (it was its name during all the WIP time) then I've decided to call it "Airtaxis Lyon-Paris" when writing this entry ; and I found it most appropriate. It's also a reference to the previous illustration which features Ed Rougaille and which is called "Air Technoël One" (for "Air Techno-Noël One", where Noël means "Christmas" in French). So, this previous scenography was done for Christmas, and the New Year, and it also has a dimension of altitude and a twilight atmosphere.
